Surfing Smarter: How Revel Surf and VLocker Are Making Waves in Guest Experience

In the heart of the Arizona desert, innovation is flowing in more ways than one. Revel Surf, a surf park unlike any other, is riding a wave of success by combining cutting-edge technology, smart operations, and strategic partnerships, including one with global smart locker provider, VLocker.

Making Innovation Look Effortless

Just six months after opening, Revel Surf has already made a splash in the world of engineered surf parks. Their proprietary Swell Technology, developed in-house by co-owner Matt Gunn, sets them apart from traditional wave systems. Unlike licensed pneumatic or sled-based models, Swell uses less than half the energy while delivering a premium surf experience, all while anchoring the ambitious Cannon Beach mixed-use development with an offering that includes surfing, events, and community programming.

“We’re not just a surf park, we’re a lifestyle destination,” says Adam Saks, COO of Revel Surf. “Innovation is built into everything we do.”

The VLocker Advantage: Reliable, Smart, and Effortless

When Revel Surf initially partnered with another locker vendor, things didn’t go as planned. But when that relationship didn’t pan out, VLocker stepped in with a technology-forward, guest-friendly solution that checked every box.

“VLocker offered a solution that was not only comparable in quality but far more advanced in terms of technology and guest experience,” says Saks.

The key selling points? Cashless transactions, user-friendly access, and a revenue-sharing model that required no upfront cost from the park.

Despite a few installation hiccups, including coordination with third parties and delayed components, VLocker’s team, particularly representative Steven Wooley, delivered top-tier service that made a lasting impression.

Easy for Guests, Effortless for Staff

Today, Revel Surf’s VLocker units are fully operational, featuring two locker sizes conveniently located near restrooms and showers. The response from guests has been overwhelmingly positive.

“The system is simple for guests to figure out, and our team doesn’t have to constantly monitor or maintain it. It just works,” Saks says.

And that simplicity is paying off. The lockers add value without adding operational burden, thanks to the revenue-share structure that funnels passive income directly back into the park.

Looking Ahead

With plans to expand to McKinney, Texas, and even international locations, Revel Surf is carefully scaling what is quickly becoming one of the world’s most exciting surf destinations. Their partnership with VLocker will grow with them, backed by a shared vision for smart, guest-focused innovation.

“Smart partnerships like this are how we continue to push forward,” Saks explains. “It’s not just about waves, it’s about delivering the best possible experience from start to finish.”
